Snyder makes appointment to NMU Board of Trustees

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Scott Holman, of Freeland, to the Northern Michigan University board of trustees

The eight-person board is the governing body of the university.

“Scott brings a tremendous amount of skill and experience to the NMU board and I thank him for his willingness to serve in this important role,” Snyder said.

Holman owns and manages King Lake Wilderness, located in the western Upper Peninsula’s Covington Township. He is also the founding director of First State Bank and managing partner of PN Investments LLC. Holman is involved with the United States Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Steel Founders Society of America and past president of the Saginaw Valley Torch Club. Holman is an experienced outdoorsman and spent 12 years as the president of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society. He has a bachelor’s degree in business from Northern Michigan University. Holman replaces Stephen Gulis Jr., who resigned.

Holman will serve the remainder of an eight-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2018, and his appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
