Step Afrika! Performs at NMU

Wednesday 19, 2014

MARQUETTE, Mich.--Step Afrika! will perform at Northern Michigan University on Tuesday, Feb. 25. The show begins at 8 p.m. in Forest Roberts Theatre. Doors open at 7:30 for NMU students and 7:50 for the general public. Admission is free.

Step Afrika! was founded in 1994 as the first professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping. It now ranks as one of the top 10 African American dance companies in the United States. The company blends percussive dance styles practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities, African traditional dance and influences from a variety of other dance and art forms. Performances are much more than dance shows; they integrate songs, storytelling, humor and audience participation.

This event is hosted by NMU's Primetime Productions and sponsored by the Student Activity Fee.
