MARQUETTE, Mich. — Northern Michigan University’s Diversity Common Reader Program, which revolves around What’s Wrong with Homosexuality? by John Corvino, will hold several events March 24-April 4, including an on-campus presentation by the author. All events are free and open to the public.

Corvino will present a keynote titled “Haters, Sinners and the Rest of Us: The Gay Debate Today.” His talk starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in Jamrich 102. As the writer of a weekly column, "The Gay Moralist," Corvino has traversed the country responding to moral and religious arguments against same-sex relationships. His book shares that experience and adopts a "sensitive, precise and good-humored" approach to questions about whether the Bible condemns homosexuality, if people are born gay and whether homosexuality is unnatural.

Photographer iO Tillett Wright will also deliver a keynote address on gender and sexual identity at 7 p.m. Monday, March 24, in Jamrich 101. Wright is traveling the country capturing images of LGBTQ people. She will also take photos of NMU students for her “Self Evident” project.

Book discussions will be held in the Learning Resource Center room 311. An associated exhibit in the Student Art Gallery in the University Center will be on display from March 24-April 4.
