MARQUETTE, Mich. -- Northern Michigan University has announced that the Tuesday, April 1, presidential candidate visit for Cynthia Pemberton has bee cancelled due to weather-related travel issues and will be rescheduled for a later date.

Pemberton is one of four presidential candidates announced last week. All four will be visiting the NMU campus in early April. During their visits they will give a 5-7 minute presentation at a public forum.

Pemberton, is the provost and vice president for academic affairs and professor of education at Dickinson State University in Dickinson, N.D. The blizzard moving through the Dakotas cancelled most air traffic Monday (March 31), including Pemberton's flights to Marquette.

The next presidential candidate forum is 4 p.m.Thursday, April 3, when Dr. Robert Ackerman, professor of law and former dean at Wayne State University Law School, is scheduled to visit. The forum will take place in the Marquette and Nicolet rooms of the University Center and is open to the public.

The remaining presidential candidate visits and public forums are scheduled as follows: Tuesday, April 8: Fritz Erickson, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Ferris State University in Big Rapids; and Thursday, April 10: Greg Cant, founding dean of the Offutt School of Business and Robert J. Johnson chair in economics and business administration at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. Those forums will also be held at 4 p.m. with Erickson's in the Marquette-Nicolet rooms and Cant's in the Peter White Lounge of the University Center.
