MARQUETTE, Mich.- Benjamin Hugus of Marathon, Wis. is the recipient of the Science Educator Annual Scholarship at Northern Michigan University for the 2014-2015 academic year.

To be eligible for the scholarship students must be pursuing a degree from within the School of Education with a focus on teaching in the area of science. The student must be a full-time senior entering student teaching the semester the award in disbursed.

The Science Educator Annual Scholarship was established in 2013 to assist students during the student teaching experience. Students often encounter financial hardships due to the reduction of work hours in this final term. As scientists and teachers of science, the donors would like to support those students demonstrating potential to become excellent science teachers in the k-12 system during the semester they are student teaching.
