MARQUETTE, Mich.- Kathleen Grandahl of Crystal Falls is the recipient of the Ellen Gustafson Thurston Teacher Scholarship at Northern Michigan University for the 2014-2015 academic year.

To qualify for the scholarship students must a sophomore majoring in education. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and graduated from an Upper Peninsula high school.

The Ellen Gustafson Thurston Teacher Education Scholarship was established in 2000 by John Thurston in memory of his mother, Ellen Gustafson Thurston, a 1922 graduate of Northern Michigan University.
