Northern Nights Series Lineup Announced

MARQUETTE, Mich.— Season tickets are now on sale for the 2014-15 Northern Nights performance series at Northern Michigan University. The season will feature seven diverse performances by artists from India, Spain, Canada and the United States. All concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. The schedule follows:

Saturday, Sept. 13: Sumkali, a wide-ranging group that plays Indian classical, light classical, folk and fusion music of both North and South India., Forest Roberts Theatre.

Saturday, Oct. 4: Carlos Nunez, a Galician multi-instrumentalist, Nunez plays vibrant, uniquely expressive Celtic traditional music, Kaufman Auditorium.

Thursday, Nov. 20: The African Guitar Summit, features the finest native-born African musicians, their show includes both solo songs and group collaborations, Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center. 

Saturday, Jan. 31: A singer and songwriter triple bill from Minnesota and the U.P., Jonathan Rundman, Erik Koskinen and Charlie Parr will perform genres including soul, country blues and Nordic folk music, Great Lakes Rooms.

Friday, Feb. 13: The Jeremy Kittel Band, will feature styles as diverse as jazz, Scottish and Irish fiddle, bluegrass and classical music, Forest Roberts Theater.

Friday, March 14: Eliane Elias, a pianist, singer, composer and arranger who melds her immense talents in jazz, pop, classical and Brazilian music, Kaufman Auditorium.

Thursday, April 16: Regina Carter, Michigan native and jazz violinist performing as part of the jazz festival celebration on campus, Kaufman Auditorium.

Season tickets, which offer the equivalent of a free concert compared with purchasing individual tickets at the door, are $34 for students/kids, $82 for NMU employees and seniors 60+ and $112 for the general public.  Individual tickets are $5 in advance/$6 at the door for students/kids, $13/$15 for NMU employees/seniors 60+ and $18/$20 for the general public.
