Illinois Poet Gives Reading at NMU
MARQUETTE, Mich.— Poet, writer and professor Michael Madonick will perform selected readings on Tuesday, Sept. 9, as part of the Visiting Writer Program at Northern Michigan University. The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Marquette/Nicolet rooms of the University Center and at no cost to the public.
Madonick is a professor at the University of Illinois and a recipient of numerous awards, including the Academy of American Poet’s Prize, the New Jersey Council on the Art’s “Distinguished Artist” Award and an Illinois Arts Council Award for work published in Accent magazine. His writing has been featured in literary journals such as American Literary Review, Barrow Street, Epoch and Chicago Review. Madonick’s first collection of poetry, Waking The Deaf Dog, was published in 2000 and his second book, Bulrushes, in 2013.
