Poetry, Music, Dance Performance at NMU

Friday 19, 2014

MARQUETTE, Mich.—Desire: Poetry, Music and Dance, a collaboration of three Northern Michigan University faculty members, will be performed at Forest Roberts Theatre. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $3 for students. They can be purchased at any EZ Ticket office or at the door.

Desire will intertwine poetry, music and dance, along with visual images, for an eclectic experience. The collaborators are: recently retired English professor Beverly Matherne, a bilingual poet and author who has performed her work at venues in the U.S., Canada and Europe; Carrie Biolo of the music department, a world-class composer and percussionist who brings experimental sounds and rhythms into her work; and Maria Formolo of NMU’s dance minor program, who was an original member of Le Groupe de la Place Royale, one of the first modern dance companies in Canada, and has toured and taught internationally.

Formolo will be joined in three dancescapes by Maggie Barch and friends. Tod Poirier will provide photo images.
