Celtic Musician Nuñez Performs in Marquette

MARQUETTE, Mich. —Celtic musician Carlos Nuñez will perform in Marquette on Saturday, Oct. 4, as part of the Northern Nights series at Northern Michigan University. His concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Kaufman Auditorium. Tickets are available in advance at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets. Prices are: students/children, $5; NMU employees and seniors 60+, $13; and general public, $18. Tickets at the door are $1-$2 higher.

            Nuñez hails from Spain’s northwest region of Galicia, which is known for its vibrant tradition of Celtic music. He began playing the ancestral bagpipe of Galicia, the gaita, at the age of 8. According to Nuñez’s website, he has since become known as “Galicia’s foremost traditional music ambassador.” His music blends the up-tempo energy of pop music with a respect for Galicia’s musical legacy.
