Upcoming Media Coverage Opportunities

A friendly reminder of upcoming NMU events that media are welcome to cover:

Thursday, Sept. 25: The dedication of the new John X. Jamrich Hall will begin with a 7 p.m. program in the first-floor auditorium with remarks from Jamrich, NMU President Fritz Erickson and others. The new Haynes Carillon will play the NMU Alma Mater before attendees proceed to the hallway for the official building plaque unveiling and ribbon-cutting. Facility tours will be offered until 9 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 26: The NMU Homecoming parade begins at 5:30 p.m. on Third Street. An all-alumni reception follows at 6:30 p.m. at the Landmark Inn.

Saturday, Sept. 27: ASNMU student government will host a time capsule event at 3 p.m. at the Heart of Northern, located on the south side of Jamrich Hall off the academic mall. Students and employees have been invited to submit statements for inclusion in the time capsule. The NMU Alumni Association is teaming up with Athletics and others to sponsor a new Homecoming community tailgate party at 4 p.m. outside the Superior Dome. The event will lead up to the 7 p.m. kickoff of the NMU-MTU football game.

Sunday, Sept. 28-Wednesday, Oct. 1: The Uniting Neighbors in the Experience of Diversity (UNITED) Conference will be held at NMU, with several keynote presentations by nationally recognized speakers. A full schedule is available at www.nmu.edu/united.
