'Your Health' Diabetes Talk at NMU

The next event in the Your Health public lecture series at Northern Michigan University will focus on "Diabetes and Your Health." Julia Busik from MIchigan State University's College of Human Medicine will give the free presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6., in room 2904 of the West Science building. She will address the widespread implications of the disease that impacts more than 21 million Americans and is a growing issue worldwide.

Busik is a physiology professor who researches complications such as diabetic retinopathy and is recognized for her work with dyslipidemia’s contribution to diabetic complications. She has received the Carrier Development Award from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and research awards from the National Eye Institute and American Diabetes Association.

The Your Health lecture series is sponsored by Northern Michigan University, U.P. Health System-Marquette, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the MSU College of Human Medicine.
