Tuesday 15, 2015
Here is information on two events this week that might be of media interest: the next regularly scheduled meeting of the NMU Board of Trustees; and the groundbreaking for the new Beaumier Alumni Welcome and U.P. Heritage Center.

The NMU Board of Trustees will hold committee meetings on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 17. The formal/business session is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18. For the agenda and supporting materials, visit nmu.edu/boardbook.

A brief groundbreaking ceremony for the new Beaumier Alumni Welcome and U.P. Heritage Center will take place at noon Saturday, Sept. 19, near Gries Hall at the corner of Seventh Street and Lee Drive. Dr. John Beaumier, President Fritz Erickson and NMU Board of Trustees Chair Rick Popp will participate. The center will serve as a gathering place for current and future alumni, and offer expanded exhibit, seminar and storage space for the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center, which is currently located in Cohodas Hall.  Construction on the project is slated to begin Sept. 21.
