McNair Program Receives Continuation Funding

Monday 5, 2015

Northern Michigan University has received $213,000 from the U.S. Department of Education to continue the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program through Sept. 30, 2016. The program is designed to increase graduate rates and post-baccalaureate success among first-generation, low-income students and students from a minority population under-represented in graduate education.

NMU works closely with students in completing their undergraduate requirements, and encourages and supports their entrance into graduate programs. This program strives to provide students with information and experiences that will make their graduate school transition easier and more rewarding. NMU's McNair scholars program is led by Heather Pickett.

The grant is a continuation of the yearly funding from the U.S. Dept. of Education.
