Kiszka Earns DAS Certification

Tuesday 6, 2015

Northern Michigan University records analyst Sara Kiszka has earned the Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) certification from the Society of American Archivists. The society developed a DAS curriculum and certificate program as part of its commitment to providing education/training that ensures archivists adopt appropriate practices for appraising, capturing, preserving and providing access to electronic records.

Kiszka successfully completed nine required courses spread across four tiers of study. The tiers include foundational skills needed to manage digital archives that could be implemented over the next year, strategic skills to make significant changes over the next five years, software products and other tools that can be implemented immediately; and transformational skills required for archivists to transform their institutions into full-fledged digital archives over the next 10 years.
