The NMU Constructors student organization and the NMU Volunteer Center will participate in a home improvement project for a area veteran. Media are welcome to cover the project. The recipient selected from among applicants was Donald Ross Thackwray of 1395 M-28 East. Volunteers will build a new deck on the back of the home, an awning to cover the back door and replacing the back door. Volunteers will also paint the trim of the house, fix damage in the driveway and build a shelving unit in the garage. Other upgrades include replacing and adding light fixtures and florescent lighting in the kitchen, living room and basement, as well as deep-cleaning the house.  Time permitting, they will add a lattice fence on the western property line.
