Thursday 15, 2015

Robin Sloan, author of the One Book One Community selection, Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore, will give a free public presentation and book signing at Northern Michigan University on Tuesday, Oct. 20. The event begins at 7 p.m. in 1100 Jamrich Hall. Public parking will be available in the following commuter or faculty/staff lots: 28, behind Jamrich off Tracy Ave.; 62, by C.B. Hedgcock; or 29, opposite the front of Jamrich. The author also will participate in a Q&A with NMU students at 2 p.m. in the same location.

Sloan grew up near Detroit and attended Michigan State University, studying economics and co-founding the literary magazine, Oats. Sloan is a media inventor, which means he is interested in creating content and experimenting with new formats, tools and technology to disperse it. He has worked at Poynter, Current TV and Twitter, “figuring out the future of media.”

Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore started out as a short story, but is now his first full-length novel. Sloan also is the author of a novella and many short stories. For more information, visit www.robinsloan.com.
