Actor Sean Astin Coming to NMU
Actor Sean Astin will present “Life Lessons from a Career in Film” at Northern Michigan University on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center.
Astin is best known for his film roles as Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the title character of Rudy and Mikey Walsh in The Goonies. In addition to acting, he also has served as director, voice artist and producer. Astin wrote The New York Times best-selling book There and Back Again, a memoir of his film career with an emphasis on his experiences with the Lord of the Rings trilogy. He is a vocal advocate for literacy, mental health awareness, bipolar disorder and civic engagement.
Admission is free for NMU students with a student ID and $2 for the general public. The NMU student activity fee and Platform Personalities are sponsoring this event.
