NMU Presents 'Santaland Diaries' Dinner Theater

Thursday 3, 2015

Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre will present The Santaland Diaries by David Sedaris on Saturday, Dec. 12, at Coco’s Restaurant in Marquette. Two performances are scheduled: a 7:30 p.m. show with a full-course dinner (vegetarian option available); and a midnight show with appetizers. The production is a fundraiser for the NMU First Nighters Club.

The Santaland Diaries is Sedaris’ one-man sendup of his brief, misguided career as Crumpet, a Macy’s elf. It skewers the sentimental aspects of Christmas, such as happy children, spritely elves, gifts and good cheer. Crumpet shows the other side of what it’s like to work in Santaland, as he becomes increasingly battle-weary, bitter and funny. Please be advised that the show contains adult language and themes. Ansley Valentine directs the production and NMU student Shane O’Connor stars.

Tickets must be purchased in advance at the NMU Superior Dome or Forest Roberts Theatre box office. They cost $35 for the dinner show and $25 for the midnight show with appetizers. The price includes coffee, tea or water; a cash bar will also be available.
