Union Suits, John Gillette & Sarah Mittlefehldt Perform
The Beaumier Coffee House Series will present the Union Suits and the duo John Gillette & Sarah Mittlefehldt. They will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, in the Black Box Theatre in Northern Michigan University’s McClintock Building. The suggested donation is $5 for adults and $1 for students.
The Union Suits are four Marquette guys having an “acousticky” great time playing the songs they love, be they traditional, country, pop gems or AC/DC. Their performance will feature mandolin, banjo, guitar, harmonica and “a bunch of singing and hollering. … Plus, all of them really enjoy deep conversations about their feelings, puppies and long walks on the beach at sunset.”
John Gillette moved from Boston to the Midwest in 2005 to be with his wife, Sarah, who is an excellent singer and musician. Together they have collaborated with musicians in Wisconsin, Virginia and Vermont, making a tradition of opening their home to people to trade songs, styles, stories and whatever dialogues come to mind. They’ve also brought these living room sessions to restaurants, bars, festivals, weddings, schools, community events, churches and even the woods, where fun has been the first priority.
