Northern Climate Network Seminar Explores Bio-Char
MARQUETTE, Mich.— The Northern Climate Network at Northern Michigan University will continue its seminar series with “What is Bio-Char?” Heather Nobert, Marquette native and Nebraska Forest Service employee, will give the talk at noon Friday, Jan. 29, in 1318 Jamrich Hall. The public is invited.
Nobert has been developing and promoting markets for timber and wood products. She will discuss a range of carbon sequestration possibilities with bio-char, from micro-projects to the industrial level and from the Amazon to Ishpeming.
The Northern Climate Network is a student-led, campus-wide consortium providing opportunities for faculty, staff, students and community members to discuss and learn about climate change in the local region. Its mission is to share current scholarship on climate change from a wide range of disciplines and to build an interactive database of people interested in working on and teaching about climate change at NMU.
