Sundre Grand Opening Feb. 3
NMU Dining will hold a grand opening for its new location, Sundre Snack and Supply Co., on Wednesday, Feb. 3. If inclement weather closes campus, it will shift to Feb. 4. The event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the store, located in the lower level of the Learning Resources Center. It will feature samples of new salads and other snacks. Sundre serves as a collective micro-market of wholesome foods and everyday supplies at the center of campus.
The store’s collection includes foods that conform to the following: non-GMO, USDA organic, Fair Trade Certified, Clean Label, all-natural, green packaging, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, kosher, recycled and local. When Starbucks relocated from the LRC to Jamrich Hall, NMU Dining viewed it as an opportunity to bring healthful dining options within easy access of students.
“The process was definitely shaped by student feedback,” said Stephanie Raboin, NMU Dining marketing manager. “With help from the Student Food Advisory Board, we took into consideration what kinds of options students wanted on campus. The food-tasting event held in Jamrich this past November helped to solidify some decisions of what would be sold in the new location.”
