The Northern Nights performing arts series at Northern Michigan University will present Jayme Stone’s Lomax Project on Thursday, Feb. 11. Focusing on songs collected by folklorist and recording pioneer Alan Lomax, this collaboration brings together award-winning banjoist and composer Stone and some of North America’s most distinctive roots musicians to revive, recycle and reimagine traditional music.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, in Reynolds Recital Hall. Advance tickets are $5 for students/children, $15 for faculty/staff and seniors over 60, and $20 for the general public. The repertoire will include Bahamian sea chanties, Appalachian ballads, African American a cappella singing from the Georgia Sea Islands and more. Collaborators include Grammy-winning singer Tim O’Brien, Bruce Molsky, Margaret Glaspy, Moira Smiley, Brittany Haas, Julian Lage, Eli West, and more. The new album is out on Borealis Records.
