NMU to Screen Royal Opera Production
The Northern Michigan University music department will present a screening of the Royal Opera production of Le nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro). The event is scheduled at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, in the Jamrich Hall auditorium, room 1100.
Mozart’s comic opera is about an engaged couple, Figaro and Susanna. They are looking forward to their wedding day, but Figaro’s master Count Almaviva has designs on Susanna. With the help of Almaviva’s wife the Countess and the page Cherubino, Susanna and Figaro finally outwit the Count. Humiliated and ashamed, the Count asks forgiveness from his wife, which she grants.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students under 18. NMU students are admitted free. Tickets are available at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets or online at nmu.edu/tickets.
This event is funded by the Siril Endowment for the Musical Arts. This endowment seeks to increase student awareness of and appreciation for classical/concert music. For more information, contact the NMU music department at music@nmu.edu or 227-2563.
