Wednesday 10, 2016

Northern Michigan University's Winterfest will be held Feb. 13-18. Media coverage is welcome. Here are some of the more visual activities. The full schedule is available at nmu.edu/winterfest.

Students will participate in three events from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, in the Payne/Halverson field. In the Human Sled Dog Races, teams of five will pull a rider along a circular course using either a store-bought or homemade sled. Creative elements may earn teams extra points. The Winter Obstacle Course will feature teams of 10 making their way through a series of winter-themed tasks, with the one recording the fastest time the winner. The afternoon will end with Tug-of-War in a single elimination tournament.

The annual airband competition will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, in Jamrich 1100. Each group will imitate a band and perform one of its songs by lip synching with fake musical instruments.
