Talk Addresses Rising Health Care Costs
The next Your Health presentation at Northern Michigan University will be titled "The Growing Cost of Health Care: Can We Endure It Much Longer?" Dr. Dean Sienko of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine will explain that the United States spends more on health care than other industrialized countries, yet has worse health outcomes. He will also explore the ethical issues related to health care cost reduction efforts. The event begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17, in Reynolds Recital Hall in the C.B. Hedgcock Building. Admission is free.
Sienko is associate dean for prevention and public health, director of the Division of Public Health and acting director of the Institute for Health Policy at MSU College of Human Medicine. His professional medical career has been in the practice of public health and in service to the needs of vulnerable populations.
