Summer Writing Institute Accepting Applications

Tuesday 22, 2016

The Northern Shores Writing Project Invitational Summer Institute is accepting applications from K-16 educators in the upper Midwest region through March 31. Educators will converge at Northern Michigan University in Marquette June 20-23 and 27-30 for an intensive professional experience. They will immerse themselves in their own writing, study current research and theory, share effective strategies for teaching students at all grade levels how to write well, and explore ways to enhance student learning in general.

Teachers who participate in the summer institute will enroll in EN 588: UP Writing Project for four graduate credit hours through NMU’s Department of English (participants are responsible for NMU graduate tuition and registration). They also have an opportunity to interact with educators on both the regional and national levels through affiliation with the National Writing Project.

To apply for the institute, visit nmu.edu/nswp to complete the online form. For more information, contact NMU professor Lisa Eckert at leckert@nmu.edu or 906-227-1828.
