Visiting Writers Give Reading at NMU
Authors Eula Biss and Jennifer Percy will read from their latest nonfiction books during a visiting writers' program at Northern Michigan University. The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7, in the University Center Marquette and Nicolet rooms.
Biss is the author of three books: “On Immunity: An Inoculation,” “Notes from No Man’s Land: American Essays” and “The Balloonists.” She has received support for her work from the Guggenheim Fellowship, a Howard Foundation Fellowship, a National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowship and a Jaffe Writers’ Award. She holds a bachelor's degree in nonfiction writing from the University of Iowa. Her essays have recently appeared in “The Best American Nonrequired Reading," “Touchstone Anthology of Contemporary Nonfiction," “Harper’s” and other publications. Biss and John Bresland comprise the Chicago-based band STET Everything.
Percy is the author of “Demon Camp,” which was a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers pick and a New York Times Notable Book. She is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her essays have appeared in "The New York Times,” “Harper’s,” “Esquire” and “The New Republic.” She lives in Brooklyn and teaches writing at Columbia University.
