'Leatherheads,' 'North Country' Shown at NMU

The History Film Series at Northern Michigan University will close with “Leatherheads”  on Monday, April 4, and “North Country” on Monday, April 11. Both will be shown at 7 p.m. in Mead Auditorium in the West Science Building. Admission is free.

"Leatherheads" is about an enterprising pro football player who convinces America's too-good-to-be-true college football hero to play for his team and keep the leauge from going under. It stars George Clooney, Renee Zellweger and John Krasinski.

"North Country is a fictionalized account of the first major successful sexual harassment case in the United States: Jenson vs. Eveleth Mines. A woman who endured a range of abuse while working as a miner filed and won the landmark 1984 lawsuit. 

This film series is sponsored by the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center, Department of History and the NMU History Club. Admission is free and open to the public.
