NMU Cosmetology Salon Unveils Upgrades
The cosmetology program at Northern Michigan University will celebrate and showcase recent upgrades to its salon from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the Jacobetti Complex. The public is invited.
Upgrades include new lighting, air-handling systems, individualized workstations and styling chairs and manicure-pedicure workstations. There is also a new remote-controlled demonstration camera with a high-definition, wall-mounted monitor. The technology allows an instructor to demonstrate a procedure, zooming in for extreme closeups as needed, so that students can watch and replicate the procedure from their individual stations.
The cosmetology salon will close for the semester April 21, but reopen in the fall. Campus and community members can schedule appointments for services during its hours of operation. The salon is open 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during NMU’s academic year.
