'North of the 45th' Exhibit Opens at NMU

Northern Michigan University’s DeVos Art Museum presents it ninth annual “North of the 45th” juried exhibition. Featured artists live in the geographical area north of the 45th parallel in Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. An opening reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 3. It will include live music, food and drink, with juror’s remarks at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

This year’s juror was Michele Bosak, curator of exhibitions at Kendall College of Art & Design, Ferris State University.

Artists from Marquette with works on display are: Ezra Asohan, Katelyn Beyett, Taimur Amin TR Cleary, Ethan Debelak, Cindy Engle, Karen Jilbert, Brian Kakas, Lali Khalid, Russell Prather, Kyle Rambatt, Sarah Reynolds and Michael Zuhorski. Other U.P. artists featured include Linda King Ferguson of Au Train, Greg Green of Calumet, Carol Irving of Escanaba, Jim Krausman of Gwinn, Scott Leipski of Gladstone, Paul Arno Rose of Garden, and Anthony Viola of Iron Mountain. 

Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Thursday and 1-4 p.m. weekends. “North of the 45th” will be on display through Aug. 7.
