Thursday 16, 2016

Northern Michigan University's DeVos Art Museum, School of Art & Design and the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center will host an open house from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, as part of Marquette's Art Week celebration. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.

The DeVos Art Museum is showcasing North of the 45th: Ninth Annual Upper Midwest Juried Exhibition, featuring work by regional artists. Also on view is To Hold: Contained, an exhibition of literal and conceptual vessels from the museum's permanent art collection.

Visitors can tour the School of Art & Design studios, including human-centered design, painting, sculpture, ceramics and jewelry. They can also meet students currently enrolled in the NMU summer sculpture and ceramics courses and see student work on display.

The Beaumier Center, in its new location on Seventh St. across from Hedgcock, is hosting a "Made in Da U.P., Eh!" exhibition featuring past and present companies that create products for export outside of the region.
