NMU Colloquium Explores Student-Teacher Dynamic

Northern Michigan University's Psychology Department will present a colloquium titled "Student-teacher relationships: How important are they and how should scientists measure them?" on Friday, Oct. 21. Jon Barch, associate director of the NMU Center for Student Enrichment and coordinator of the Student Leader Fellowship Program, will give the talk at . The public is invited.

Barch will provide an overview of the measurement of internal relationship representations, specifically the relationship between student and teacher. A summary of numerous approaches to measuring student-teacher relationship quality from different paradigms in psychology will be provided and the results of a study aimed at measurement integration will be presented.

This colloquium is most relevant to those interested in psychological measurement, social cognition, interpersonal relationships, motivation, child development or educational psychology.
