Haltof Discusses Film's Representation of the Holocaust
Marek Haltof, NMU English professor, will present “Screening Auschwitz: Representation of the Holocaust in The Last Stage (1948) at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, in 1320 Jamrich Hall.
The Last Stage was a feature film directed and co-written by Wanda Jakubowska. It depicts her experiences in the Auschwitz concentratio camp during World War II.
Haltof joined the NMU faculty in 2001. He has published several books in English and Polish on the cultural histories of Central European and Australian film. Haltof also has written several books on the Polish cinema culture. He is the author of three other books, including two short novels and a collection of essays on American genre cinema, published in Poland. His works have been translated into many languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Czech and Spanish.
