The Northern Michigan University French Club will present the classic 1922 silent film, Crainquebille, with live grand piano accompaniment on Wednesday, Oct. 26. The event begins at 7 p.m. in the University Center Ontario room. Admission is free.

Robert Buchkoe will play the piano. The film is based on a novel by Anatole France titled L'affaire Crainquebille. It was one of the forerunners of French realism that would dominate the Gallic cinema of the 1930s and has come to be regarded as a major worksof the French cinema that symbolizes Paris. 

Crainquebille stars Maurice de Feraudy. Director Jacques Feyder was originally from Belgium, where the film was banned upon its debut on the grounds that it portrays a lack of respect of its laws. 

A reception with refreshments will follow the screening.
