NMU Grad Named Senior VP of Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation

John Driscoll, who earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from NMU, has been promoted to the newly created position of senior vice president of recovery services for the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation.

According to a press release, the new role unifies all of the clinical operations within the nation's largest nonprofit addiction treatment provider. The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation has 16 sites across the country. Driscoll will provide clinical leadership for all sites, facilitate greater standardization in clinical operations, oversee expansion of the cutting-edge Comprehensive Opioid Response with Twelve Steps (COR-12™) protocol, and guide integration of the Foundation's new system-wide electronic health record.

"This appointment is a key step in our aggressive effort to provide innovative, individualized treatment across the entire continuum of patient care," said Mark Mishek, president and CEO, in the press release. "John's expertise and proven track record will enable him to lead our relentless efforts to provide the world's best clinical care within a national system that helps patients stabilize their health and acquire the tools necessary for a lifetime of recovery and wellness."

Driscoll has worked in the addiction treatment field for more than 25 years. He joined the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in 1999 and has served in a variety of roles, including counselor and manager, as well as VP of the Midwest and Eastern regions. Prior to joining the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, Driscoll started and directed a long-term treatment program for women and their children in Chicago.

The Randville, Mich. native was a graduate of the North Dickinson High School class of 1988. After graduating from NMU, Driscoll went on to attend the clinical psychology graduate program at Marquette University in Milwaukee. He is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor and holds an MBA from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn.
