Construction Firm Supports NMU Program

Friday 28, 2016

Northern Michigan University's construction management program received a $3,000 donation from Mortenson Company, a global construction and real estate development firm. Alumnus Jon Nehls presented the check. He directs Mortenson's Wisconsin operations and said the company routinely recruits from NMU.

"Over the past 15 years, we have hired 60 NMU graduates," he said. "They do very well with Mortenson. They take on any challenge and run with it. The success of the NMU construction management program is important to the Mortenson Company. We are seeking more diversity in our workforce and want to support NMU’s goals to increase its diversity also.”

Nehls' years of construction experience include a broad range of projects across the municipal, healthcare, data center, laboratory, corporate, museum and renewable energy markets. He is a 1999 graduate of NMU and serves on the NMU Construction Management Advisory Committee.
