Employee Awards Program Updated

Tuesday 10, 2017

The NMU employee recognition program policy and associated procedures were recently updated to align the annual individual and team awards with the university’s mission, vision and core values. The nomination deadline for 2017 awards is Monday, Feb. 6.

To make it easier for employees to access program information and make nominations, the Human Resources department has created recognition-specific webpages. Visit www.nmu.edu/hr/employee-recognition-program to learn more about the awards presented at the annual employee luncheon, view past award winners and find tips on showing appreciation and making award nominations.

Nominations are being accepted for the Excellence-in-Service and Distinguished Team awards. Winners will be honored at the annual faculty and staff recognition luncheon on April 12. Here are details on each:

Excellence-in-Service Award: To recognize distinguished performance and service in furthering the goals of the university while demonstrating the core values of community, opportunity, rigor, environment, inclusion, connections, and/or innovation by individuals within the AFSCME, TOP, Administrative/Professional, and Non-Represented (Coach, Dean, Department Head, Executive, Senior Management, and Senior Administrator) employee groups. Distinguished Team Award:  To recognize up to four university work teams that demonstrate exemplary performance and/or innovation that furthers the university's mission, vision, and/or core values.  (Distinguished Team and Technology Innovation awards have been combined since innovation is an NMU core value.
