Zero-Waste Challenge at NMU-MTU Games

Tuesday 24, 2017

A Zero-Waste Challenge will take place during the Northern Michigan University women’s and men’s home basketball games against Michigan Tech on Monday, Jan. 30. The goal is to compost or recycle all trash generated at the event so that the items avoid the landfill. The women’s game begins at 6 p.m. and the men tip off at 8 p.m. at the Berry Events Center.

NMU’s Sustainability Advisory Council is hosting the event in partnership with the Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority.

Zero-waste stations will be placed on and off the court for participants to sort their trash. Everything collected will be recycled so that the items avoid the landfill. The event is designed to encourage the campus and Marquette communities to create less waste.
