Monday 27, 2017

The Olympus Piano Trio will be in residence at Northern Michigan University from March 28-March 31. Its members will deliver classroom presentations at NMU and local schools and participate in lunchtime mini-performances at various campus locations. The trio will also participate in a “Bach vs. Rock” showdown with a local band. The residency will culminate in a public performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 31 in the Reynolds Recital Hall. Tickets are free to NMU students with a student ID, $8 for youth and $15 for the public. Tickets are available at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets.

Formed at Julliard in 2010 to celebrate a passion for chamber music as well as their shared Hllenic heritage, the Olympus Piano Trio performs a repertoire of classical masterpieces and champions the music of native Greek and diaspora composers. Since its formation, the trio has been heard in concert throughout the New York City metropolitan region.

Here are the performances and event beyond the public concert:

Lunchtime mini-concerts at around noon in the following locations: Jamrich first floor, Tuesday; Wildcat Den, Wednesday; Marketplace, Thursday.

Wednesday, March 29: Bach vs. Rock: A Musical Genre Smackdown! The Olympus Piano Trio and The Daydreamers (local rock band) square off and compare rock music to classical in Reynolds Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m.
