Rural Health Careers Camp at NMU

Thursday 30, 2017

A Rural Health Careers Camp for Upper Peninsula high school students will be held at Northern Michigan University May 15-17. The camp will provide a hands-on learning experience related to different health careers and show students the range of opportunities available in the health professions.

Students will experience health care simulations, receive CPR training and tour a local medical facility to learn how the various health professions work together to provide quality health care for individuals. They also will receive information about education and training, academic requirements, financial aid and campus life at NMU.

The staff for the camp is composed of NMU health professions faculty, health professionals currently in practice and college students studying towards a health profession.

The registration fee of $60 will cover all camp fees except for transportation home. Camp fees include transportation to camp, room and board, CPR training, simulation costs and activity fees.

The UP Regional Center of the Michigan Area Health Education Center (AHEC), based at NMU, is hosting the camp. To register, visit regonline.com/NMUhealth17. For more information, call 906-227-1628.
