Northern Michigan University trustee Tami Seavoy is the 2017 recipient of the Evergreen Award of Marquette County. The award honors one individual each year who is “dedicated to supporting and mentoring women and girls and helping them to reach their leadership potential.” NMU student Rachel Gerbig, a sophomore social work major, was given the Evergreen Scholarship Award at the recognition luncheon.

Evergreen Award criteria include demonstrated excellence and creativity in one's profession and/or volunteerism and exceptional service to improve the quality of life for others in the community.

Seavoy is a practicing attorney with the Marquette firm of Kendricks, Bordeau, Adamini, Greenlee & Keefe, P.C. In addition to serving as an NMU trustee, she is a mentor for the Student Leader Fellowship Program and a member of the boards of Bay Cliff Health Camp and Superior Arts Youth Theater.

"If what we had to do every day was just get up and go to work, it probably wouldn't mean a whole lot,” said Seavoy in an interview with WJMN-TV. “But if you get up and you have an idea and you say, 'Something needs to happen with this' and you can do things to make it happen, then that's really what's important."
