Psi Chi Receives Funding from Ishpeming Rotary
The Rotary Club of Ishpeming made a $200 contribution to the Northern Michigan University chapter of Psi Chi, an international honor society that recognizes and promotes excellence in the science and application of psychology. The funds will support Psi Chi’s promotional efforts and community outreach, which includes mental health awareness activities and volunteer service. “We’re very grateful for the support,” said Johannessen. “Psi Chi hasn’t been active for a while on campus, so we’re trying to start it up again. A big part of that is getting the name out there on posters so people know about us. We plan to reach out to the community where we can and continue volunteering, as we have with the Warming Center and other organizations.”
Lance Peterson said the Rotary Club of Ishpeming hosts an annual fundraising dinner and dance gala in February. Money raised at the event also funds scholarships for Ishpeming, Negaunee and Westwood students, and also supports many other community events and area causes.
