Student Protests Presentation at NMU

A presentation titled “Black Pride, Billy Clubs and Broken Promises: Northern Michigan University Student Protests” will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, in room 126 of NMU’s Learning Resources Center. The Central Upper Peninsula and NMU Archives is hosting this event in conjunction with Black History Month. 

Marcus Robyns, professor and University archivist, will present about the student protests that occurred at NMU in the 1960s. NMU Archives student employee Kyleigh Sapp will present about the specific demands made by student organizations during the protests and how the NMU administration responded to those demands in the 1970s.
