NMU Pow Wow March 24

Friday 9, 2018

The 25th annual “Learn to Walk Together” pow wow will be held on Saturday, March 24, at the Marquette National Guard Armory on Lincoln Street. Admission is free. Doors open at 11 a.m., with grand entries at noon and 6 p.m.

NMU’s Native American Student Association is hosting the event, with coordinated support from the American Indian Science and Engineering Society and the Native American Language and Culture Club.

The pow wow begins with the grand entry and flag song, followed by the veterans' honor song for all veterans in attendance.

The emcee will provide information on the following dances: male and female traditional dances; jingle dress and grass dance; and male and female fancy dance. Social dances such as inter-tribal, round dance and two-step will also be featured and the audience is invited to participate. Artisan and vendor booths will provide a variety of craft items, reference materials and food.
