English Grad Student's Essay Published
Wednesday 28, 2018
NMU graduate student Jacob Hall, who is pursuing a master’s degree in English, had an essay titled “We Knocked Hard” published in “The Forge” literary magazine. The essay relays Hall’s adventures and occasional mischief with a beloved cousin, while exploring themes of growing up in poverty and without education. The magazine editor described it as beautifully structured around cars, “from the beginning, when you are taken in a car to your cousin’s house, to the end, when you are driving your mom and dying aunt to visit your cousin in jail.” To read the full essay and accompanying interview with Hall, click here.
