Constructors Assist Wildcat Ski Team

Tuesday 27, 2018

The Northern Michigan Constructors student organization volunteered to help the NMU Nordic ski team when it hosted the recent NCAA Regional Championships in Ishpeming, according to Coach Sten Fjeldheim. The students adapted the pavilion at Al Quaal Recreation Area to meet the needs of a larger competition.

"With all of the teams coming to town, we needed an indoor waxing space for visiting teams," he said. "The construction club came up with an awesome idea to build temporary walls that could be loaded into a trailer and installed in a matter of a couple of hours."

The Northern Michigan Constructors (NMC) group is affiliated with the construction management curriculum, states its website. The student-led chapter utilizes its estimating, planning, building, leadership and communication skills to develop and maintain community partnerships while striving to create a positive impact with each project. The Constructors focus the majority of their efforts on construction-related community service projects throughout the Marquette area.
