The World of Wine

Have you ever looked at a wine list and wished you could distinguish beyond red and white? Our Intro to Wine Studies course, taught by Certified Sommelier Marcella Krupski, provides a knowledgable foundation for understanding wines and wine culture. In this 16 week course, students will earn about:

  • The basics of wine literacy
  • Quality assessment
  • Wine laws & labels
  • Wine production
  • Varietals of wine
  • Food & wine pairing

Students will elevate their skills through blind tastings, menu pairings, and classroom participation. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to confidently navigate a wine list, characterize different styles, and comprehend the foundations of viticulture.

Course begins August 26th

Available for both credit and non-credit* seeking students!

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6-8:45 PM
  • Runs from August 26th-December 14th
  • Classes located in the newly renovated Hospitality Center in the Northern Center on NMU's campus
  • Course cost $399 for non-credit seeking students

*Non-credit seeking students must be 21 or older to participate
