FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

One of the best reasons to attend NMU for your HVAC/R degree is that you get to have the full college experience. You can opt to live in the dorms, attend athletic games, join a student club, and participate in all of the fun activities on campus.

You'll take classes in the Jacobetti Complex alongside likeminded students who are also interested in hands-on skill-based learning. With welding, automotive, indoor agriculture, construction, and engineering technology labs in the same building, you may decide to take classes in some of these programs or earn an additional certificate.

It's tricky to juggle college classes, part-time work, and your personal life, so adding in an internship is impossible for most students. We've designed our curriculum to include an internship as a way to earn on-the-job training and work with local companies, all while earning credits! Many of our students are offered full-time employment upon program completion, and students are able to enter the field at a higher tier due to this resume building opportunity.

Absolutely! HVAC/R is one of the fastest growing fields with a huge need for skilled workers. We have students who are changing careers, adding onto their skillset, and getting ready to hit the job market for the first time. With so many occupations looking for employees with a background in HVAC/R, students interested in construction, engineering, electrical work, automotive, and indoor agriculture benefit greatly from an HVAC/R education.
