Kirk Guckenberg

Associate Professor of Technology and Occupational Sciences

Kirk Guckenberg began his career in education, serving as a welding instructor for Marquette Alger-RESA and as an adjunct faculty member at Northern Michigan University. He joined the welding program as a full-time faculty member in 2019.

His industry experience includes working as a welder and fabricator, where he excelled in the fabrication and repair of components for the industrial, mining, and marine industries. His industry experience, coupled with his formal education, has been proven to prepare students for entering the workforce. Kirk played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of the Associate of Applied Science degree in Welding Technology.

Kirk is an American Welding Society Certified Welding Educator (CWE) and Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and carries out welder training, welder qualification testing, and related inspection duties for local industry, including Cleveland Cliffs Mining Company, Lundin Mining, PotlachDeltic, Northern Hardwoods (Longyear), Louisiana Pacific, and MATIV.
